Best value coverage.
Not just the cheapest price.
We compare price, features, customer service, and the claims process across 30+ insurance companies — then explain your options in plain language, with zero pressure.
Requesting a quote is not an application for insurance and does not create coverage.
We compare more than the price tag.
Anyone can sort by cheapest. We dig into the four things that actually decide whether a policy is good value for your family.
Price
We find competitive pricing — but price is the starting point, never the whole answer.
Features
Riders, conversion options, renewal terms. The fine print is where value hides.
Service
How the company treats its customers — speed, clarity, and support when it counts.
Claims process
How smoothly claims get paid when your family needs the money most. This is the real test.

Straightforward answers to the questions we hear most.
How much does life insurance cost?
It depends on your age, health, tobacco use, coverage amount, and policy type. Term life is the most affordable — healthy non-smokers are often surprised how low it starts. Only a personalized quote gives your exact number.
How much coverage do I need?
A common starting point: your income × the years your family needs support, plus mortgage and debts, plus future costs like education — minus savings and existing coverage. The calculator above walks through that math.
What is the difference between term and permanent life insurance?
Term covers a set period (10, 20, or 30 years) at the lowest cost — ideal for mortgages and income replacement. Permanent lasts your whole life and builds cash value, but costs considerably more. Most families start with term.
Do I need a medical exam?
Not always. Many term policies are approved on health questions alone; larger amounts or certain ages may need a free paramedical exam at your home. We’ll tell you upfront what is required before you apply.
Can I get coverage if I have health issues?
Often, yes. It depends on the condition — some insurers are more flexible than others with certain conditions, which is exactly why comparing matters. See options for diabetes and heart conditions →
How long does approval take?
Anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the insurer and whether medical records are needed. We keep you posted at every step.
What affects my premiums?
Age, tobacco use, health history, coverage amount, term length, and policy type. Buying younger and as a non-smoker locks in the lowest rates.
Can I change or cancel my policy later?
Yes. You can usually adjust coverage as life changes, and you can cancel a term policy at any time — there is no cash value to lose.
Is the payout taxable in Canada?
Life insurance death benefits are generally received income-tax-free by beneficiaries in Canada. Tax rules can change, so speak with a tax professional about your situation.
I already have insurance through work — do I need more?
Group coverage is usually 1–2× your salary, ends if you leave the job, and cannot be taken with you. Most families need more than that — and coverage you own stays with you no matter where you work.
What happens if I outlive my term policy?
The coverage simply ends — nothing bad happens. Many policies also let you renew, or convert to permanent coverage without a new medical exam.
What is the difference between bank mortgage insurance and life insurance?
Bank mortgage insurance pays your lender, and the coverage shrinks as you pay down the mortgage. Personal life insurance pays your family a fixed amount they control. Learn about switching mortgage insurance →
